Bolton Carers Support was set up in 1994 to provide:
- information
- emotional support
- and to raise awareness about carers needs generally
Bolton Carers Support is a registered charity for adults who have caring responsibilities (whether you care for an elderly relative, a spouse or partners, or a child with special needs) and who live in Bolton or who care for someone who lives in Bolton.
What We Do
1. We provide information for carers:
- free quarterly newsletter called 'Carers Contact'
- free Carers Breaks Brochure
- items on loan from the Carers Resource Library
- answer enquiries that come in by phone, post, and email
- staffed information displays at public events and locations
- Carers Guide to Services
- funder-finder service
2. We provide a listening ear service and opportunities for a break:
- a listening ear service for carers to talk to someone in confidence
- signposting information about local counselling services and support groups
- quarterly Carers Outings
- special events such as 'Time Out for You' and National Carers Week activities
3. We also raise awareness about carers generally:
- Our Carers Health Linkworker, works with health professionals at GP surgeries, health centres and the hospital
- Our Outreach Worker, identifies 'hidden carers' through outreach work with a team of Outreach Volunteers
- Talks, presentations and training sessions are held for health and social care professionals
