"Where can I get aids and equipment for daily living tasks?"

When you are caring for someone you may find that aids and equipment could help with daily living tasks.

Contact the Disability Officers on 01204 337020.

Charges for aids and equipment may apply.

There is also a Loan Equipment Service. If you are caring for someone who might need special equipment to help them at home, such as a bed board, air ring, back rest, walking frame or commode, ask their doctor, district nurse or other health professional to make a referral to the Loan Equipment Service.

If you want to buy aids and equipment then why not pay a visit to the Shopmobility Information and Resource Centre, The New Horizons Centre, Back Bark Street, Bolton, BL1 2BJ. Then centre is situated at the side of Justicia Fairtrade shop on Knowsley Street and there is a permanent display of equipment on show. Telephone 01204 382 408

If you care for someone who has a visual or hearing impairment then the Sensory centre may have items of equipment that could be of help. For example, there are gadgets to help with tasks such as cooking, special magnifying glasses, clocks and watches, and numerous other aids that can help a person maintain their independence.

The Sensory Centre is based at Brinks Place, Chorley Street, Bolton, BL1 4AL. Telephone 01204 337 900 Open 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Monday - Friday.

Disabled Living centres offer the opportunity to see and try out a range of aids and equipment to find those that best suit their needs. They specialise in a wide range of products from complex disability equipment to gadgets designed to help with everyday activities. The nearest Disabled Living Centre is at Redbank House, 4 St Chad's Street, Cheetham, Manchester, M8 8QA. Telephone 0870 777 4714. www.disabledliving.co.uk
